San Francisco is one of the most amazing cities in the world—and rent here can be expensive.
Luckily, the University of California provides generous compensation to fellows, which gives fellows sufficient funds to afford housing in San Francisco. Fellows have not had a problem finding great housing in our beautiful city. In addition, each resident receives a generous meal card allowance to cover the cost of most meals while at each campus.

Mission Bay Housing
On the Mission Bay campus, near shuttle stops, the gym, and more, these four buildings create our largest housing complex.
The Tidelands
The Tidelands, located in the Dogpatch neighborhood and next to Mission Bay, is modern and has great amenities.
Mount Zion Housing
A smaller complex next to the Mount Zion campus, in the middle of the city, and within close distance to restaurants, shops, and more.
Aldea San Miguel
A family-friendly community surrounded by a forest on Mount Sutro, one mile from the Parnassus Heights campus.
Academe at 198
Academe at 198 is a brand new housing option for UCSF, which opened in 2023.
